SMU Mustang Mavericks

A Unique Student Club

In 2008, four students came together with a small club and a big idea: country-western stunt dancing. Thus was born the SMU Mustang Mavericks: Southern Methodist University’s first and only country-western dance team. Now, 17 years later, the Mustang Mavericks have grown to be a much-loved group in the SMU and Dallas community. Comprised of approximately ten couples, the team performs at various events on and off campus including talent shows, pep rallies, charity events and community events. Most famously, the Mustang Mavericks have performed at the Texas State Society's 2025 Inaugural Ball in Washington, DC.
